Credit score FAQs

Know what the number means

Why can scores differ across bureaus?

Lenders may report to bureaus on different dates, and each bureau can use a different scoring model and data refresh cycle.

Does checking my own score reduce it?

A self-check is generally treated as a soft enquiry. A lender's application check may be recorded as a hard enquiry.

Is a high score a loan approval?

No. Lenders also assess income, obligations, employment, documents, product policy, and internal risk rules.

How often should I review my report?

Review it periodically and before a major credit application so you have time to identify outdated or incorrect information.
